Who are we?
We are a group of people in Central Pennsylvania that gather weekly to study the Word of God and fellowship with one another in a casual, safe environment. We aim to be a church that teaches the whole counsel of God and thus worships Jesus authentically, equips disciples for the work of the ministry, and makes new disciples of Jesus Christ in the Central Pennsylvania area.
We currently meet in Philipsburg, but we come from different towns around the area including Smithmill, Madera, Houtzdale, and some as far away as Huntingdon. We have a broad range of age groups and people from every walk of life who have chosen to be a part of our group because they desire to learn more about Jesus, learn more about the Bible, and to develop our relationships with Almighty God.
Ultimately, we exist to make mature disciples of Jesus Christ throughout Central Pennsylvania and we pray that you would consider joining us as we seek to bring glory to God in our mission.
Location and Service Details
We currently meet in the Conference/Recreation Room at the Moshannon Valley YMCA (113 N. 14th St., Philipsburg, PA 16866) at 10:30am every Sunday. The YMCA has requested that we utilize their rear parking lot and entrance, which is directly off of Hale St (you can follow our large, blue signs into the lot and into the building). Don't worry about getting lost while navigating the building, there will be someone to greet you at the rear entrance in order to point you in the right direction. When you arrive, please make yourself at home--grab some coffee and a snack, find a seat, and feel free to chat with those around you.
Because we're a smaller group at the moment and because we're trying to keep everything as simple as possible our "service" might be a little different than what you're used to. This is what you can expect--you can expect any announcements that pertain to the whole group right at the beginning, an opening prayer, congregational singing, Scripture reading, and a 50-55 minute message directly from Scripture. After the message, we'll close off the message portion with prayer and you're more than welcome to ask questions about the message, about Jesus Christ, about the Bible, or really anything on your mind--we are here to help answer questions and there is no need to rush off right after the message.
We chose Philipsburg due to its central location to many different communities that all needed consistent preaching and teaching that focused on the whole counsel of God. It is our hope that as we grow in Christlikeness through the expositional preaching and teaching of the Bible, we mature as disciples and we intentionally seek to make more disciples of Jesus Christ in Central Pennsylvania.
While Central Pennsylvania has smaller communities that are scattered over significant lengths, there are still approximately 55,000 people that live within 15 miles of Philipsburg (according the US Census Bureau) and that need to hear the whole counsel of God. Our hope and prayer is that we can spread the truth of the Gospel throughout the region regardless of which town the individual lives in, what county they work in, or what school they might attend--their spiritual life is far more important than distance.
